Extrusion Technology

The products extruded by Gekoplast S.A. are made from polypropylene (PP), a polymer that is ideal for a wide range of applications across various markets. The extrusion technology has enabled us to develop products known under the brand name Kartonplast®, which is synonymous with corrugated plastic sheets, as well as Eplak® – a solid plastic sheet. Increasingly gaining importance is Exalite®, a polypropylene “sandwich”-structured material consisting of a honeycomb core bonded with two solid outer polypropylene layers.

Gekoplast S.A. specializes both in the extrusion of high-quality polypropylene sheets and in converting these sheets into innovative packaging solutions for various markets. Thanks to efficient converting processes, Gekoplast offers its customers great production flexibility and constant quality products based on high standards. Through dedicated and continuous investments in research and development, as well as by operating a technologically advanced extrusion plant, Gekoplast S.A. has secured a strong position as a leader in polypropylene extrusion technology in Central Europe, becoming one of the most important and modern companies in the industry.

Kartonplast®

Kartonplast® is a corrugated polypropylene (PP) sheet. Polypropylene (PP) is a polyolefin polymer discovered in 1954 by an Italian scientist, Giulio Natta, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1963. Corrugated polypropylene is a hygienic and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional materials like cardboard or wood, usually used for packaging.

Its main advantages and features are:

Spheralite

Spheralite is the newest sheet in our product range, characterized by a combination of the best properties of solid and corrugated sheets. It is lightweight and highly durable, and most importantly—just like the rest of our products —it is 100% recyclable.

The SPL sheet is produced using an innovative multilayer extrusion system from polypropylene, where the inner core layer is thermoformed. The three-layer structure of Spheralite allows us to combine virgin raw material, for example in the outer layers, with recycled, used as the sheet’s core.

The color of SPL sheets can be customized to meet the client’s needs. Available additives currently include UV stabilizers, antistatic, ESD (conductive material), and double-sided corona treatment required for printing.

Spheralite is not just about sheets, but also boxes, dividers, trays, and various types of packaging where durability, water and moisture resistance, as well as resistance to creasing are essential. It also serves as a material for structural elements, such as vehicle interior components.

Thanks to its properties, SPL sheets and packaging are especially useful to industries such as:

Solid Sheets

Solid sheets are made entirely from homogeneous material. This type of sheet is produced from plastics and is primarily used as a construction material.

We offer ABS, PP, PEHD, PELD, HIPS sheets. Solid sheets are ideal for thermoforming. These sheets can be joined through welding.

Solid sheets can have a smooth finish or be textured on one or both sides with patterns such as “orange peel,” “sand,” or “fine sand.”

Main properties:

These properties make solid sheets widely used across various industries, including: Automotive, Installation, Machinery, Electronics, Refrigeration, Transport.

Eplak®

What is Eplak®?

Eplak® is a solid polypropylene (PP) sheet.

It is an excellent alternative to those materials traditionally used in graphics and visual communication applications, as well as in office supplies and beverage packaging.

Why? Because it is equally flexible and strong.

Its even and smooth surface makes it perfect for high definition printing (offset, UV offset, screen printing).

It is easily convertible into packaging, advertising, high-end  boxes.

It is 100% recyclable.

Eplak® is available both in customizable sheets as well as in reels.

Eplak® features different finishing types:

Exalite®

What is Exalite®?

It is a special polypropylene panel featuring  a hollow, honeycomb core.

The triple ‘sandwich’ structure of the panel is complemented by two outer layers of solid polypropylene sheets.

This results in a remarkably durable and lightweight material: over 30% better stiffness at the same weight compared to competitors’ materials. This special feature makes it suitable for transporting heavy and valuable components for the automotive sector.

Gekoplast developed  the know-how to provide sealed edges technology: this makes Exalite® panels, sleeves and layer pads easy to clean, which makes them ideal for reverse logistics.

Exalite® reusable containers are suitable for any closed logistics network, ensuring long lifespan and enabling significant cost reductions.
